9Slides allows users to combine presentation videos and audio with the slides featured in those presentations. This, in turn, gives users the ability to share their presentations across the web, without losing any details for viewers who were unable to view the original event. 9Slides lets users upload media, synchronize and customize the video presentation, then share it to the web.

9Slides also provides usage reports, so presentation creators can keep track of how many views their presentations are receiving. 9Slides aims to make presentations easier to create and save for future use.

9Slides is based out of Seattle, Washington. The application was first released in late 2011, and has a small Facebook following of roughly 180 people. The application added phone support options in March of 2012.

9Slides operates off the theory that while a user’s slides are still informative, they aren’t as engaging without the presence of the user. 9Slides seeks to remedy this problem by allowing users to embed their audio and video into the slide presentation, synchronizing the personal elements with the slide progression. 9Slides also allows for easy presentation sharing and password-protected slideshows.

9Slides uses a simple, point-and-click interface to give users full control of their presentations. The application is laid out in a step-by-step process that walks users through uploading their content, getting the various aspects synchronized, and publishing to the format that suits their use.

9Slides registration requires a full name, email address and password. Once registered, users can make slide presentations using the application’s free utilities, or upgrade to one of the paid alternatives. Users with Facebook accounts can also register through Facebook.

Pricing for 9Slides is split into three tiers. The Silver tier is free of charge, and allows users to make up to five presentations. Gold memberships are $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year, and allow for 10 presentations a month and the use of other special features. The third tier, Enterprise, allows for unlimited presentations and custom domains and branding—pricing for Enterprise is available only via phone call.

9Slides is a strong application for users that often find themselves sharing presentation slides after giving the presentation. If the user feels that something is being lost in not having the presentation audio, 9Slides can help ensure that every viewer experiences the presentation in the same way as people who were actually in the room.
